Library OVERVIEW

What's Going On
The library has been full of fun! Right before Spring Break all 7th grade students had a chance to design and build a mini-golf course inside the library. Students were split into groups and were tasked to use their STEM skills to design a golf course hole using pre-selected items around the library. It was a blast watching each group come up with unique designs. After the courses were created, each class took a tour and had some time to try out course. Both 7th & 8th grade students also headed to the library for a lesson on the three foundations of Copyright Law. Students learned about how some of the simplest ideas can be worth millions. The importance of intellectual property, fair use, and the public domain were covered during the lesson and gave students a back ground of how our Copyright system works.

My favorite thing about the library is the ambiance and the overall vibe. It's an awesome place to be, because I can do one of my favorite things...read! I also can enjoy a quiet environment that is peaceful, tranquil, and overall, what I consider just a great place to be. I always love continuing a series I'm reading, or going to browse and discover a new one. It just gives me a good feeling and makes me happy. I love the library.

I know it's kind of cliché to recommend three books in one series, but I would recommend the first three books in the Maximum Ride series, The Angel Experiment, Schools Out Forever, and Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports. Their all fast paced and really well written.

A quote that represents me is..."Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." - Robert Frost

8TH GRADE

There are a lot of fascinating things at the library. In itself, it is basically a time capsule! Recently when I went to look at a book, I noticed it was last checked out in 1969. Along with fiction and informational books, there are some pretty wacky things; i.e. Mafia Encyclopedias, a guide to Public speaking, and even a book for Rubix puzzles, published before the cube was solved! Last but not least, the atmosphere is (usually) really chill, most times I've been, Mr. Berger had soft background music playing.

Some books I would recommend would be: A Guide to Public Speaking, because it´s interesting and actually gives some good tips. 2.) Riverman by Aaron Starmer, it's extremely twisty and mysterious. 3.) Flora and Ulysses. This is the perfect book to pick up on a rainy day and chill out with, it is weirdly funny and you get to know the characters very well.

What people have done in the past does not describe what you will do; if it did, no one would do anything risky. - Melina Kyroudis
